Configure Device Types: Customize the Repair Intake Form

With device types in RepairCMS, you structure your intake form perfectly around your business requirements. Whether handling cameras, laptops, or e-scooters—you define individually which specific metrics and required attributes (such as serial number, brand, or accessories) must be logged during device drop-off to guarantee a flawless technical repair workflow.

Your Benefits at a Glance: #

  • Smart Mandatory Fields: Define crucial metrics (e.g., IMEI or serial numbers) separately per category so technicians receive complete hardware profiles.
  • Faster Device Intake: A cleanly mapped reception sheet dramatically cuts down customer wait times at your service counter.
  • Seamless Documentation: Log device conditions and accessories out of the box to protect your store against fraudulent claims.
  • Flexible Scalibility: Expand your service catalog anytime by independently onboarding brand new product frameworks and hardware lines.
Without this Process (Traditional):
  • ❌ One-size-fits-all forms for all devices without category-specific fields
  • ❌ Technicians waste time hunting down missing asset metrics post-intake
  • ❌ Forgotten accessory logs lead to disputes with retail clients over lost items
  • ❌ Messy unorganized paperwork instead of streamlined database logging
With RepairCMS (Automated):
  • ✅ Tailor-made entry masks triggered by the selected hardware group
  • ✅ Complete ticket metrics secured during the very first intake routine
  • ✅ Standardized tracking of physical condition, lock codes, and cables
  • ✅ Perfectly prepared diagnostic foundations for your workshop staff

Step-by-Step Guide: Creating a New Device Type #

  2. Select the Form Builder sub-menu option located under the workspace settings panel.
  3. Navigate to the Select a device type configuration field and click the Edit button on its right side.
  4. Click the blue **Plus button (+ Add Device Type)** on the lower right to open a clean category wizard slot.
  5. Upload or choose a matching graphical identifier from the integrated Icon Library panel framework.
  6. Enter a clear name for your category inside the descriptive Type Name form field (e.g., Kamera).
  7. Tick the Brand checkbox parameter under System Attributes to collect core manufacturer variables at intake.
  8. Select the Model structural option checkbox to record asset build versions natively.
  9. Enable the Serial metric checkbox element to enforce unique tracking number allocations.
  10. Check the Accessories system option field to populate inventory routing checklist components.
  11. Select the Conditions check parameters block to document initial unit states accurately.
  12. Finalize by clicking the blue Save Type action button at the base of your active modal workspace.
  13. Push the setup changes live across your system by clicking the blue Save button in the upper right form builder navigation zone.

💡 **Pro Workshop Tip:** Always enable the “Accessories” and “Conditions” attributes for hardware categories. This compels your front counter staff to log chargers, cases, or physical pre-existing blemishes straight into the ticket, legally securing your shop routines.
